Chaotic. That’s how I would describe my lifestyle. Let me explain. About 3 1/2 years ago I was in a slump. Like one of those “I hate my life-I have no passion or talent-things couldn’t possibly be worse” kind of times. You know what I’m sayin’? I had been working in retail for about a year and Facebook was constantly feeding me all of the successes of my former classmates. Get out of here with your college degrees, fancy jobs and marriages. Dang social media.
Anyway, I was partying a little too hard and realized I couldn’t slang cologne for the rest of my life, so I decided to go back to college. That decision changed my life in more ways than one. Without getting into the sticky details, I was removed from my position at a large department store, I won’t mention any names, but they might be the main sponsor of everyone’s favorite Thanksgiving Day parade…
I was in a bind and even though I planned to go to school full time, I had to figure out a way to pay that skyrocketing tuition (oh, and my rent). And then came a fairy godmother, in the form of Craigs List! It was on of those “and the heavens opened up and the angels sang HALLELUJIAH!” kind of moments. You know the type. I found a one-day gig on craigs list for something called a “brand ambassador.” The job was easy peasy, handing out McDonald’s coupons and paying for Broncos’ fans’ light rail fare.It was easy and it was FUN! I was hooked. And so began my journey…and so it shall continue. I’ve worked probably a hundred events since that first job with 8 Days A Week and it has been my main source of income ever since. I can hardly believe I’ve waited so long to talk about my experience in promotional marketing, but I’m excited to keep record of it from this day forward!
Have you worked as a Brand Ambassador?
